1 - A) The 2 in 1 concept. In the past the only way you where able to enjoy water and land travel in one package was to purchase a motorhome and tow a cruiser. We discovered through experience, along with asking people whom have owned or still own a large motorhome in the 40' plus range and towing a 25' to 28' cruiser ( add another 4' to 6' in length for the hitch and tongue dimensions.) . The difficulties they experience. First of all most motorhomes bottom out launching a cruiser or boat at a launch ramp, they are too low. Most motorhomes have rear wheel drive which means if you try to launch on a ramp that has a natural slippery surface ( such as sea weed or natural algae ), the motorhome will loose traction and the possibility of your motorhome ending up in water is very possible, not to mention the fact that if there is any degree of wave action or swells the motorhome is in trouble especially in salt water. Another disadvantage is that you usually transfer all personal items, food, drinks, toys, music CD's & tapes, videos etc. from the motorhome to the cruiser, this is very inconvenient plus one usually forgets something. When you travel on the highway or back roads with a motorhome towing a cruiser, you could be hauling 70' to 80' in length, which makes it very difficult to maneuver, park or even backup. Plus you will need a substantial amount of a diesel power source to pull with any efficiency. A lot of traditional motorhomes like to tow a small car, obviously you are not allowed by the DOT ( Dept. of Transport ) especially if you are already towing a cruiser. The time it will take to launch and retrieve a cruiser from a motorhome is a great deal longer and less frustrating than the few minutes it takes the Highwave Boatorhome. Plus a very important factor is that you could spend a lot more money by the time you purchase the motorhome, the cruiser, trailer and hitch components. The many difficulties and inconveniences this type of configuration creates has inspired our design and engineering team to develop the ultimate HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000. The multi-functionality of the HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000 gives you the ultimate flexibility for land and water travel. The Boatorhome is comprised of a Heavy Duty HAULER and the largest trailerable CRUISER on the market today. When on land you are also able to tow a car, van or utility trailer. OR - Many people own boats that they keep at a marine and when they travel by land they always wish they had their boat with them. Now you can. back
to top 2 - A) Yes. The HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000 transforms into a futuristic motorhome while on land. You are able to walk easily inside from the HAULER to the CRUISER. The large forward bow entrance opens so you are able to walk from the driving area of the HAULER into the CRUISER while on land. The lowest headroom while entering the CRUISER from the HAULER is 5'-6". back
to top 3 - A) Yes. A great deal of thought went into the design, engineering and ergonomic planning of this very important area of entering and exiting in a safe and easy manor with very little effort. The HAULER has easy flowing steps and grab handles, with a door and a half opening if needed for safe and easy entering and exiting the HAULER. The CRUISER has a patented hydraulic lifting swim platform located at the stern of the CRUISER, operated by a remote control switch. This way you enter and exit your HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME along the same concept as an elevator platform, with no stairs to climb or stairs to store. back
to top 4 - Q) Yes - This is just one of many exciting and unique features of the HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000. With the "patented" Hydraulic Lifting Swim Platform you are able to carry a maximum load of 1,000 lbs. when the swim platform is in the tilt down mode. DOT - Department of Transportation regulations only allow a maximum width on the highway of 102" or 8'-6". The swim platform has a surface area of approximately 3' x 6'. Therefore anything you carry on the swim platform must not exceed the 102" width limit. back
to top 5 - A) It is very easy to launch and retrieve the CRUISER from the water. In fact, it only takes 5 minutes or less for each maneuver with two people, on a government approved launch ramp. With our new 12,000 lb. Front Wheel Drive Axle and Caterpillar Diesel Engine it will be a breeze. It is much safer with front wheel drive than a motorhome or tow vehicle with rear wheel drive. back
to top 6 - A) We do not guarantee fuel mileage consumption ratings. We are now offering as standard equipment the all new Caterpillar CAT 3126B, truck and bus Turbo Charged Diesel Engine combined with a 5 speed Allison MD Automatic Transmission. You should achieve better fuel consumption than that of a motorhome towing a cruiser. The aerodynamic design of the Highwave Boatorhome also enhances fuel economy. back
to top 7 - A) Front wheel drive allows for a lower center of gravity for ease in launching and retrieving the cruiser, as well as better control for steering and cornering, etc. The differential is not submerged in salt or fresh water compared to other tow vehicles and motorhomes that have rear wheel drive components, also eliminating vibration and under carriage clearance problems. Overall performance enhancement with front wheel drive gives the HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000 that high performance limousine ride and control. In the past we built on a smaller chassis, smaller engine and a very light Dana 60 front wheel drive axle and discovered that it was not all of the engineering performance specifications. We have selected with the direction and support of FORD Engineers the Heavy Duty Morman-Herrington 12,000 lb. front wheel drive axle with a 2 speed transfer case. This gives you the muscle and pulling power needed and then some. You can even tow a Hummer without any problem. back
to top 8 - A) This Cab and Chassis is totally NEW for 2000. It was first introduced in early spring of 1999. There are many performance and design reasons for this selection. With our experience in years of designing and engineering our prototype in 1996 we tested an Econoline E350 Super Duty Van with the 7.3L turbo diesel engine. We discovered that we where at its maximum pulling capacity. We need more MUSCLE and GVW, now we've got it. With a GVW Rating of 33,000 lb. and a powerful 250 hp - 660 ft / lbs. of torque @ 1440 rpm CAT diesel. This new model has a sleek body and interior design with an ergonomically designed cab area. Driver and passenger positioning, entertain perfect visibility and comfort. The vehicle incorporated many important features including: powerful, body on steel frame construction, out-front cab forward engine design for easy access under the seamless forward tilting hood, allowing tremendous space under the hood for general maintenance. FORD'S world wide dealer network gives you piece of mind for warranty claims and regular service and parts, through out North America. back
to top 9 - A) Another great feature is that you have another living and entertaining area in the Cab portion of the HAULER. We include 4 custom leather seats that recline and swivel. With graduated standing headroom, you have another living area for ultimate comfort when travelling on land. When you park you are able to utilize this area for entertaining. As the cockpit table doubles as the HAULER table, so you are able to turn all 4 seats facing each other with a round table. back
to top 10 - A) Yes. The CRUISER has an optional Yanmar Twin Turbo Charged Marine Diesel engine package.
back
to top 11 - A) Through testing with the traditional stern drive from past prototypes, we have discovered that the jet drive is more efficient. No moving propeller blades and much safer for children swimming and the preservation of undersea marine life. With a modified V hull design we only draw 24" of water. This enables us to navigate in very shallow water. No matter how experienced we are there always comes a time when we hit something like a dead head or submerged object, with Jet Drive we roll over top of what ever we hit, minimizing the risk of losing power or steering or drive damage. No vibration from drive shafts, less moving parts = less maintenance. Emergency stopping is possible as we just lower the bucket over the nozzle. With Twin Jet Drivers you are able to literally walk the CRUISER sideways to get into those tight spots as well as the ease of retrieving back onto the HAULER if there is excessive wind or current. We are always thinking of safety. If you have ever lost an engine, that experience alone will always remind you that with an extra engine you will never be stranded. We have selected Hamilton Jet Drives because there are over 10,000 in use worldwide. They are tested and proven, low maintenance and very reliable. Hamilton Jet has excellent warrantee and service anywhere in the world. Used on commercial and military vessels worldwide. They're built to last; just ask anyone who owns a Hamilton Jet. back
to top 12 - A) Yes. When the CRUISER and HAULER are together they form an integrated vehicle similar to a streamlined motorhome. Seat belts must be worn while in motion on land. Our Chassis meets all DOT - Department of Transportation safety requirements and certification. back
to top 13 - A) Most government approved launching areas have ample parking for the HAULER. The HAULER may also be driven to another launching area to retrieve the CRUISER. back
to top 14 - A) An advantage with the HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000 is that you are able to park in most towns and cities. The HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000 is no larger than a school bus or class A motorhome. It will actually take up less parking area than any tow vehicle towing a cruiser trailer. back
to top 15 - A) It is very easy. With our new Ford F-750 Cab & Chassis, you feel like you are driving a personalized custom user friendly cab & Chassis - and you are. Just use common sense and take it easy. Always use your mirrors and when backing up have an observer to assist. You will feel like you are driving a high performance limo. back
to top 16 - A) The quality of materials is equal to that of high end motorhomes and yachts. All materials are scotch guarded, mildew and stain resistant and fire retardant. Certified with the N.M.M.A. National Marine Manufacturers Association.Materials such as Corian counter tops with molded sinks, Ultra Leather upholstery and Ultra Suede for walls and ceiling covering. All materials are designed for durability and easy cleaning in a marine environment. You have a choice of color material selection along with any addition custom modifications to suit your lifestyle. back
to top 17 - A) The HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000 is designed to give you 3 floors or levels of living comfort. The ergonomically designed floor plan on the interior of the CRUISER, in the forward salon area has 2 luxurious sofas that convert into a comfortable queen size bed for 2, along with plenty of room for younger children in the bow area. In the cockpit area the goucho, seats 4 and converts to a bed for 2. The unique design of the upper deck gives you a very safe area for sun bathing as well as seating for 4 and a sleeping area for 2 adults under the stars. A complete optional enclosure is available for the sun deck and cockpit areas. Each sleeping area has been designed for privacy and total comfort along with easy access to the washroom or head. back
to top 18 - A) A large plexiglas sliding watertight door retracts into the ceiling or deck of the CRUISER. When you park or drive the HAULER, there is a retractable door panel in the HAULER that closes off the opening, when the CRUISER is not in the HAULER. back
to top 19 - A) We recommend government approved, full concrete launch ramps. Always inspect launching facilities before attempting to launch. Make sure that the drain plug is installed correctly in the transom of the CRUISER and that you have disconnected the transom tie downs from the HAULER. TO LAUNCH: Simply back the HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000 down the launch ramp into the water, similar to a boat on a trailer; submerge the rear Tri-axles until CRUISER stern is floating. (Note: Never submerge front wheel drive axles in water); start engine room blowers for at least 5 min. then fire up your twin CRUISER engines; unhook power winch cable hook from the bow eye; shift CRUISER into reverse; slide CRUISER out of the HAULER in a slow maneuvering motion. TO RETRIEVE: Simply reverse the procedure. With Twin Jets you are able with practice to maneuver your CRUISER in any direction you desire, even sideways. back
to top 20 - A) An optional winterizing package is available giving you year round comfort regardless of the weather. This includes closed cell foam insulation, automatic plumbing winterization system and extra 12v / 120 v heating while on land or sea for extreme cold weather conditions.
21 - Q) How and can the upper deck be used? 21 - A) We have utilized every area possible for your total comfort. The upper deck sunning area of the CRUISER is designed for sunbathing, fishing, sleeping for 2 and seating for 4 in comfort and safety. When anchored, docked, beached or parked on land, the large reinforced upper sun deck area with stainless steel handrails can be utilized. It also makes an excellent observation deck when attending special events on land or water. The HIGHWAVE BOATORHOME 2000 has the largest deck space area of any trailerable cruiser available today. back
to top 22 - A) The custom designed (optional) electric windlass is controlled at the steering station, making setting and hoisting the anchor a simple, easy and safe function at the push of a button, while never leaving the wheel. The specially designed bow area has a standing platform and recessed stainless steel handrails to make anchoring and docking safe and easy. back
to top 23 - A) Yes. Even though we realize for most of us there is never enough storage We have designed storage areas for at least four people to live on board comfortably. There are also extra storage areas for scuba tanks and gear, water skies, docking fenders, life jackets, safety equipment and inflatable dingy. back
to top 24 - A) Yes. We have engineered a custom steel frame extension that protects the Jet Drives while on land from anyone driving into them or if backing up into a driveway or camp site. It also doubles as a hitch attachment for towing a car, van or utility trailer. With the New Ford F-750 HAULER and CAT Turbo Diesel you will have more than enough power and muscle to pull. back
to top 25 - A) Yes. A complete OWNERS MANUAL is supplied both in book manual format and video, which includes everything one needs to know pertaining to maintenance, safety, pre-flight checklists, warranty and servicing. back
to top 26 - A) Yes. In the near future, everyone will be required to be licensed in order to safely operate a motorized marine vessel of any size. Currently the best non-profit, organized courses available are the United States and / or Canadian Power Squadron, St. Johns Ambulance, and The Red Cross Survival courses. back
to top 27 - A) The HAULER and CRUISER are licensed individually. The HAULER requires an automotive policy and the CRUISER requires a marine policy. No different than a traditional tow vehicle towing a boat. back
